IN WHAT DIRECTION ARE YOU LOOKING ? Backwards? Sideways? Forwards?
Forget what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. So let those who are spiritually mature and full grown have this mind and hold these convictions, and if in any respect you have a different attitude of mind, God will make that clear to you also, Only let us hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that.
(Phil 3 v 13-16)
Yes, words we all know well, yet have we taken the time to really MEDITATE on this ?
Stand still at the words – forget, forward, mature, convictions, attitude, hold true, already attained.
People who keep looking backwards are miserable, pessimistic, complain and find it difficult to be happy with and for others.
Those who look sideways keep looking at their neighbors, comparing and envying what they have, feeling continuously discontent.
People who look forward are spiritually mature, they’ve gone through much and have scars (not open wounds) which are a sign of what they’ve already overcome. They keep HOPE no matter what and give hope to others. Their desire is to REIGN in VICTORY with the King !
Looking backwards and sideways, keeps our eyes on ourselves. Looking forward keeps our eyes on the GREATNESS of the all-powerful God, Yahweh.
FRONT-RUNNERS GO LIFT UP A STANDARD !
You who’ve already climbed higher up the spiritual mountain, look with patience towards those who are still to climb higher. Don’t be judgmental re the mistakes others make, for have you not made many mistakes yourself ? Never forget where you’ve come from.
We who are strong in our convictions and faith, ought to bear
with the frailties of the weak and not to please ourselves. (Rom 15 v 1)
GO OUT AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS to seek Him, enquire for Him; and require Him as a vital necessity, and God shall make Himself know to them (Jer 29 v 13,14), for you too were once there! Let God make it clear to you then what your ATTITUDE OF MIND is.
Go prepare the way for the people. Go lift up a standard over and for the people ! (Isa 62 v 10)
