A SONG OF GRATEFULNESS

Dear Friend

The year 2017 was a year of extreme activity in the spiritual realm. It was a very tough year for many. A year many would wish never to be repeated.  I am reminded of the words of the Israelite Nathanael, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip replied, Come and see!” Many may be wondering if good will come from the bad they experienced this year.  Yeshua, the redeemer of life, came out of a most unlikely village where nothing great seemed to happen. He was the unexpected surprise on earth!

I cannot help but go back to the guide of truth, the written Word, where the Apostle Paul said, “In every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God, and God’s peace shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ. “  I want to lift out the word every. ‘Every’ implies good and bad circumstances.  The bad experiences we’ve gone through might have dampened our hope and our courage and even stolen our energy, yet today I want to encourage you to look at life as days and years filled with seasons and variety. Think of colours.

There are 3 primary colours – red, yellow, blue. When two primary colours are mixed, secondary colours are formed – green, orange, purple.  Then more colours are created when primary and secondary colours are mixed. These are called Tertiary colours. They are violet (blue-purple), magenta (red-purple), amber (yellow-orange), teal (blue-green), cinnabar (red-orange), lime-green (yellow-green).

What’s my point?

Unless we move beyond our normal expectation of only seeing the obvious, the basic (colours), and dare to stretch our faith and expectation to seeing something surprisingly new, we won’t reach the place where God wants us to be.

God wants to manifest His miracle power and sovereign voice through believers. The requirement is, for us to first go through excruciating fire, the effort and heat experienced when crayon is rubbed on crayon to bring out a new shade.  “How much more Lord?!” we might gasp, yet HE is sovereign and it is HE who turns up the heat.  God is Creator of everything and He can stop or allow things to happen to get people to a certain point. This year was as if He let satan loose on earth to test our commitment and love for Him (God) and to squeeze us to the extent where we start to make a new sound.  A sound that will bring change in the days that lie ahead.

How much heat is man willing to endure? When will man be the man God intended him to be? A man with Christ’s conquering nature?  Do not be far from Him when things go well, and only cry out to Him when things go tough. Want Him all the time! Daily! How can the created detach himself from his Creator? The true sons will come forth through this fire and the Lord will roar out of Zion (Amos 1 v 2). His voice shall be heard.

Things are the way we look at it. Think back on what I’ve just shared, and ask yourself, “Can I look back at this difficult year with a song in my heart? Am I willing to look at the red-hot situations that I’ve gone through, with the expectation that cinnabar (red-orange) will come out of it? Do I feel blue when I think back of this year, or am I hoping to see beautiful teal (glue-green) in the next coming year? Am I willing to thank God and sing a song of gratefulness, or am I going to continue singing the same old tune of complaints?

It’s your choice!

Love in Him
